  7. Make ready 2 green cardamoms

  13. Make ready 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  14. Prepare 1/2 tsp garam masala

  17. Make ready 1 cup basmati rice soaked for 20 minutes
  18. Make ready 3 cups water
Steps to make Methi -Tomato Rice:
  1. Wash and soak rice for 15-20 min - - Then take rice in a big bowl with 3 cups of water and let it boil. Add salt,turmeric powder, cinnamon stick, star anise and cardamom to the water with rice. This will make rice flavorful
  2. Now take a wok - Add ghee and cumin seeds - When they crackle add bay leaf and sliced onions - - Let them sauté - Add ginger garlic paste - - Sauté for sometime
  3. Now add biryani masala and stir - Add chopped tomatoes and let them cook nicely. Biryani masala is flavorful so no other masala is needed.
  4. Add methi leaves and stir till the water is absorbed - - By now the rice must have boiled - Drain out the excess water and add rice in the the wok
  5. Stir rice gently alongwith the prepared methi tomato masala
  6. Once it’s mixed all over nicely - Switch off the flame and serve hot with any raita or plain curd
